Sharing the Immersive Prayer site is a daily joy.
The anonymous nature of this website is intentional in that I believe very much in lowering the desires for self so God’s presence can surface. On the other hand, it makes sense to give you some information “About Jerry” to understand the motivation to spend a portion of my day in prayer and sharing the mingling nature of Trinity within my thoughts. My painting to the left represents this mingling of the results of immersing into prayer.
I am a happily married practicing Catholic living in Central Massachusetts (New England, USA). I am actively involved in various ministries but could not do so if I did not take time for prayer and just to be. My life experiences in faith far outweigh but are supported by a formal graduate degree in pastoral ministry. I have found that attempting to fight every single wrong I observe quickly burns me out. I now realize our specific commission is far more essential, and we must responsibly identify and use our God-given gifts. For me, among other things, this means making quality time for daily prayer, teaching about our loving Trinity in an as appropriate way as possible, and moments of accepting Jesus’s will, which includes writing of the ordinary moments of God’s peace love, and actions. I firmly believe we are already participating in the mystery of heaven and eternity. I understand that some of what I write may differ from your thoughts as I lean on my experiences and background. I only ask that you think ecumenically and let the Holy Spirit regulate your reaction.
I believe my writing fits snugly into the category of grounded mystical Christian theology. I have studied, written, and spiritually and physically applied this practical concept in my life for nearly two decades. I have never seen or participated in what some might call a vision. However, I appreciate moments of the certainty of God’s presence. Bothe visions and God’s presence may be a reality for a person or a group. My belief is that God has provided them with deep consolation that manifest into a mingled human reality. For me, consolation is only the beginning of a two-way relationship with God.
My own experiences are more intellectual in nature because I lean toward engineering and science. The reality for me is that God is always present because we are his tabernacles. We constantly miss His surfacing of lighter than a feather touch because we are a physical people. We talk about opening our hearts to this love, but technically, our intellect gets in the way. I have been trying to prove this of idea of the unconditional love virtually every day for well over a decade by documenting what I believe are grounded mystical thoughts in various ways.
Most of the content of this site is typically captured from the meditative to contemplative sequence portion of the ancient prayer of Lectio Divina. My hope is that my thoughts not just resonate but help others form their own reflections. Here are some of my own favorites as a collection of vignettes from within this site, if you would like a quick view. I prayer that together we can Sing Joyfully to the Lord as David does in Psalm 81. Feel free to email me at [email protected] for additional information.
