FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Daily Gospel Reflection using Lectio Divina for the 2025 Liturgical Calendar
Dateline: Sutton, Massachusetts, November 2024 – Christian author Jerry Francis
Daily Gospel Lectio Divina Reflections for the 2025 Liturgical Calendar provides a full year of daily reflections using the prayer of Lectio Divina. The book is available from Amazon in Kindle, paperback, hardcover, and Audible audiobook. All proceeds from book sales go to charity. Daily Lectio prayer is one way to allow God’s love to wash over you routinely. The ancient Lectio Divina prayer style originated with the church fathers. Lectio enables the Holy Spirit to illuminate and teach by personalizing without re-interpreting Scripture. It consists of progressively reading and slightly changing the reflection method by reading the same Scripture passages multiple times.
The passage is read and then meditated (Meditatio) on. A particular word, phrase, or concept may come to mind during this time. These insights at each step can be a foundation for the subsequent re-reading of the passage. The passage is then read again, followed by communicative prayer (Oratio) with Trinity. During Oratio various methods can be used, such as having a silent conversation with God about the passage, insights, the Scripture scene, or more profound concepts that came to mind. The selection is then read a third time, followed by contemplative (Contemplatio) silence with God. Lectio allows us to be attentive and open to what God may want to highlight in our lives. Lectio embraces the “being” part of our relationship with God and neighbor.
About the Author
Jerry is a happily married practicing Catholic who is actively involved in various ministries. To be present to God would not be possible if he did not take time for daily prayer. His life experiences far outweigh his computer technology, graduate business and pastoral ministry degrees. The author understands education in knowing the language of business, personal, and faith, and his doubting Thomas within mingles the human and divine nature of who he is. Jerry has realized that his specific commission means he must responsibly identify and use his God-given gifts. He tries to share his belief in the love of God and neighbor as appropriately as possible, especially knowing he has a choice in accepting God’s will. Jerry loves writing about the ordinary times of God’s peace, love, and actions. He firmly believes we can tap into an internal desire to know unconditional love.
“For a decade, I have been publishing daily thoughts that flow from the ancient prayer of Lectio Divina (divine reading). This book is now the sixth Lectio book in a yearly series. Proceeds from my Lectio series and other Christian books are for charitable purposes.”
