Reflection on Luke 11:37-41 ~
The truth of Christian faith is very simple; one must unconditionally love God and neighbor. There are no shades of gray to what this means. Those that are more than financially stable should recognize that simply going to a once a week church service is not sufficient. The alms Christ speaks also include constant prayer, praise, service, love and faith, and allowing those things that are within to be cleansed by grace. Grace also shields us against distractions and goals of grandeur.

Jesus Denounces Pharisees and Lawyers
37 While he was speaking, a Pharisee invited him to dine with him; so he went in and took his place at the table. 38 The Pharisee was amazed to see that he did not first wash before dinner. 39 Then the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. 40 You fools! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? 41 So give for alms those things that are within; and see, everything will be clean for you.
