Luke 19:45-48 Reflection – Bold Like Jesus

Reflection on Luke 19:45-48 ~

As a business owner, I have been in a den of thieves where greed surfaces. However, what about the more subtle dens of gossipers that we all see every day? Taken in this light we can imagine other types of dens. We have to remember that we are always on sacred ground. Our responsibility is to steer towards the positive, which sometimes occurs by simply being present. Occasionally we must be bold like Jesus, but be prepared (by praying) for “death stares” or people walking away upset.

Jesus Cleanses the Temple

Then he entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling things there; 46 and he said, “It is written,

‘My house shall be a house of prayer’;
but you have made it a den of robbers.”

Every day he was teaching in the temple. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people kept looking for a way to kill him; 48 but they did not find anything they could do, for all the people were spellbound by what they heard.

Thank you for meditating on this Gospel reading and considering this reflection on Luke 19:45-48.
