Reflection on Luke 21:34-36 ~
Contradictions are part of the interior life of a Christian. To name but a few there is emotional anxiety, all types of suffering and forgetting divinity is within. Then there are moments of pure peace, being pleased we are on the cross, and the deep desire to get even closer to God. It requires great strength to withstand the tribulations that go with purgation when on earth. St. John of the Cross left behind a legacy of writings on gift of strength as we stand before the Ascended Christ.

Exhortation to Watch
34 “Be on guard so that your hearts are not weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life, and that day does not catch you unexpectedly, 35 like a trap. For it will come upon all who live on the face of the whole earth. 36 Be alert at all times, praying that you may have the strength to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
