Reflection on Mark 3:31-35 ~
I used to think that my family consisted of my wife and children, a brother and sisters, other relatives, as well as all my in-laws. Then I began to understand that my family further rippled out to church friends, colleagues and those I knew in heaven. Now, interiorly I am aware that family extends beyond this circle, joining Christ in community, unconditionally offering myself as needed to all brothers and sisters. We can outwardly share in His sacrifice, peace, food, and love.

The True Kindred of Jesus
31 Then his mother and his brothers came; and standing outside, they sent to him and called him. 32 A crowd was sitting around him; and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers and sisters are outside, asking for you.” 33 And he replied, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” 34 And looking at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 35 Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”
