Mark 8:11-13 Reflection:
Sometimes we make the mistake of thinking that signs from Heaven are something that our physical senses recognize as miraculous. I believe these are mainly consolations. From my witness, the most significant sign is that of Heaven manifesting itself from within the heart as faith, love, and hope. These gifts allow grace to overpower evil, brings us peace, and results in the fruit of understanding, mercy, and compasssion. How can that not be a sign of Heaven in the now?
Mark 8 New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)
The Demand for a Sign
11 The Pharisees came and began to argue with him, asking him for a sign from heaven, to test him. 12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit and said, “Why does this generation ask for a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation.” 13 And he left them, and getting into the boat again, he went across to the other side.
