Reflection on Matthew 11:16-19 ~
Can you hear the heavenly music playing and calling out to you to dance or mourn? Can you hear John shouting out to make room for Jesus in your heart? Can you eat and drink in moderation so that you can properly proclaim in word, action, and prayer? Do you take a humble position with the poor or those rich all of whom Jesus loves? No matter who we may have been previously, we can be made whole if we participate with the wisdom of the Lord dwelling within and among us.
Matthew 11 New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)
16 “But to what will I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to one another,
17 ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;
we wailed, and you did not mourn.’
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon’; 19 the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.”
