We are the Treasure – Reflection on Matthew 13:44-46
We are the treasure in the field and the pearl of great value. The Father’s generosity gave us Jesus inside to make us that pearl. Just like the formation of a pearl, we can grow layer by layer in our relationship with God We can recognize the beauty and light of our treasures when we acknowledge divinity as part of who we are. Undoubtedly, we are precious to God. God knew us before we were in our mother’s womb surrounding us then and now in love, peace, and joy. To appreciate God’s love of us as pearls of great value, think of God giving (“selling, ransom, etc.”) Jesus, his only Son, to be on the Cross. God has, is doing, and will do everything for us.

Matthew 13:44-46 – Scripture (NRSV Bible)
44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls; 46 on finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.
