Willingly Change – Matthew 9:14-15 Reflection
Living the Christian life is filled with inconsistencies. We must sometimes embrace the known, behaving within constraints, customs, and traditions. At other times, we are in unexplored territory where everything is new, and we must prepare for anything. A Christian’s challenge is not to force-fit our square block into a round hole. Instead, we need to discern and accept the gift to willingly change into the shape God may be asking of us. Deep prayer with the Lord is the most helpful tool we have to do so. We must trust that God will prepare us for these transitions, which can transform our thinking. Transitions can also give us the spiritual courage to do something we could not previously imagine doing.

The Question about Fasting
14 Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?” 15 And Jesus said to them, “The wedding guests cannot mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them, can they? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.
