My internal drive to share my poetry and meditations continues to grow stronger. Recent moments of my life let me embrace and reflect on the immensity of God’s grandeur. God has manifested beauty since the beginning of time which became especially apparent in the Gardens of Eden and Gethsemane.
There is nothing more naturally beautiful to me than to be standing in a group of Chanterelle mushrooms growing amongst the green moss of a moist riverside, precious gifts in and from The Garden. Appreciating nature opens a window to recognize God’s gift of Himself as Christ in life and in action. Christ’s expectation of our behavior regarding all of creation is clearly infused within the Beatitudes (Mt 5:3-12).
There can be no doubt that God delights in making extraordinary beauty plainly visible in the ordinary daily activities of our lives. Exploring this awareness of what God has provided, and continues to provide, increases our sensitivity of how we need to treat each other and creation. To recognize each other as beautiful gifts from God, far more precious than Chanterelles at the river’s edge, has transformed me and immersed me deeply in the garden metaphor. Earth and Heaven have become seamless.
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen
