John 15:9-11 Reflection – Cooperating with Joy

Reflection on John 15:9-11 ~

Love’s journey has been a crooked line, as I did not learn love’s depth in my youth. I had not fully embraced it as a primary virtue until this last decade. Among other walls, my macho humanness was in the way of complete surrender, the one necessary thing that makes us whole. Now, as Christ’s unconditional love approaches, I am accepting its aggressive correcting and taming, I am welcoming and cooperating with joy and I am loving back so I can learn to give it all away!

John 15  New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)

As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. 11 I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.
